Thirsty yachtsmen and women at Southsea Marina will at last be able to get a simple sandwich and a pint for their lunch. The newly opened (and aptly named) Marina Bar, run by Katie Bell and Emma White (pictured) will be serving good simple grub from sandwiches to Sunday Roasts via Jacket Spuds and all points in between. I wonder if they’ll have a crack at Figgy Dowdy this winter?

The Marina Bar opens at 8.00 am daily for breakfast, and stays open until 11.00 pm, serving food all day, up to 9.00 pm. Contrary to popular belief, Boatshed Port Solent will not be setting up an office on a bar stool, but I think the odd breakfast and cup of tea is very much on the cards!

The berth holders and marina staff I have spoken to today are all very much in favour of the new venture, and they tend to agree with me; we all love Bombay Bay, which is a really great Indian Restaurant, but variety is the spice of life!

All of us at Southsea wish Katie and Emma the very best for the future – so come on guys, get down here and try the beer, try the sarnies, try the bacon and eggs, try a burger - if we don’t use it... well you know the rest!
