Have you thought about a great exploration? Whether you are intending to sail to these northern waters and want to learn all you need to know or would like to enjoy seeing nature in its raw beauty but from the comfort of a chair in CA’s Assembly Room – this is the day for you.
The lead presenter is Mike Henderson, author of the CA’s Cruising Guide to these northern waters who has himself visited these territories in his yacht several times over the years. He will be joined at the event by two more Arctic sailors, Helen Gould and Alasdair Flint.
The day starts at 1100 with a series of presentations about preparations for the voyage – general information, preparing the boat and the crew, supplies and communications. Mike Henderson and Helen Gould will cover these aspects.
A buffet lunch is served at 1300.
The afternoon presentations will feature Faroes, Iceland and Greenland in turn. The main presenter will be Mike Henderson supported by Helen Gould. Alasdair Flint will cover Jan Mayen.
The presentations end at around 1545 but anyone wishing to stay on for a chat is invited to do so over a drink at the bar.
The day is free to CA members but must be booked in advance. Lunch is available priced at £14.50 but must also be booked and paid for in advance. Contact the Baltic Section Treasurer Rob Pudney via email: baltic-treasurer@theca.org.uk
Non-members are very welcome and will be charged £15 plus the £14.50 for the lunch if required. Please book and pay in advance by contacting: baltic-treasurer@theca.org.uk
Note: Non-members joining the CA on the day will be refunded the £15 entrance fee.
