Birdham Pool Marina has announced plans to construct some new pontoons in the marina which will result in a further 28 new berths of between 6 to 12m being added to the marina.

Work will commence on the pontoons this autumn and the berths will be ready by the start of next season.

Marina Manager John Hiltunen said: “We are in the fortunate position of being a popular marina due to the fantastic location; wonderful setting and historically maritime feel of Birdham Pool, so it’s really nice that we will be able to offer a few more berths instead of having to turn people away.”

Birdham Pool Marina is set in the sheltered and beautiful cruising grounds of Chichester Harbour.

Castle Marinas Ltd, owners of Birdham Pool, have made several enhancements to the marina over the last two years in terms of the storage and lifting of boats plus better tenant facilities, whilst still retaining the pretty, quaint and traditional feel that the berth holders love so much.

Operations Director Mike Braidley said: “‘The new pontoon will not affect the beautiful setting of the marina, and will improve access to other pontoons in the Pool. We needed to clear some of the silted up areas within the marina, and it’s a real bonus that we’ve gained back some of berths we had historically given up’”

“Anyone interested in a berth at Birdham Pool Marina is advised to contact John, the Marina Manager or the Birdham Pool team as soon as possible as It is anticipated that the new berths will be very much in demand.”
