Why should it just be the adults that have boat shoes? Chatham have a great range of unisex footwear designed for the younger boaters in the family.

Some have laces while, for ease or those still mastering laces, there are also Velcro shoes. As well as traditional browns and navy colours there are some fun splashes of colour, like those on the Oliver Velcro boat shoes and Henry deck shoes we have asked some younger sailors to try out.

Our female tester, Isabelle, has been putting a pair of stone/pink Henry deck shoes to the test. Although she liked the pink detail and sole, she was not so keen on the stone colour but pink laces were definitely a hit. Running around out in the rain the non slip sole did its job, and the tester gave the comfort a thumbs up.

Isabelle said: “The pink is really nice and they are comfy.”

The Oliver shoes, a younger version of the Henry, come in a choice of three colourways and our tester had the striking navy and yellow, which he absolutely loved, being a fan of bright colours. He also found them very comfortable and easy to put on. Not just for boating, the tester, Dylan, will be wearing them out and about throughout the summer.

Dylan said: “I love the colours and I can wear them all the time.”

From an adult’s perspective both pairs of shoes look good and, made from nubuck leather, will be hard wearing. The price is very reasonable too for a pair of quality shoes.
