Gunwharf Quays is set to welcome back its popular festive ‘Christmas Village’ attraction next week, with an enhanced look and feel following three successful years at the waterfront shopping outlet.

Guests will be able to enjoy access to cosy igloo-inspired seating for a unique festive experience once again, with igloos available on a first come, first served basis. They will be located next to the ‘Alpine Lodge Bar’ which will be offering some much-needed refreshments, such as mulled wine, beers and lagers from local and imported breweries.

To compliment the seasonal beverages, the Christmas Village will offer several food vendors including a traditional German Bratwurst grill, as well as Yorkshire pudding wraps, Greek souvlaki and sweet treats such as chocolate churros.

In addition, family friendly winter-themed games will return, allowing guests play for a chance to win a Christmas themed prize.

The ever-popular giant Observation Wheel will provide guests with spectacular views of Portsmouth’s harbour from 15m high. At night, the Observation Wheel will be illuminated by over 10,000 LED lights creating a captivating light display. Other attractions include a traditional carousel and a balloon race fairground ride, providing some family fun.

What’s more, the Christmas Village will follow a traditional European style, with unique handpicked artisan craft and gift traders in wooden chalets selling Christmas gifts. Traders will include Hampshire-based businesses, including local chutneys and cheeses and personalised decorations.

Yvonne Clay, Centre Director at Gunwharf Quays, said: “We are delighted to announce the return of our ‘Christmas Village’ for a fourth year, featuring an all-new look and feel. It’s a wonderful opportunity to bring joy and festive cheer to our guests, and we can’t wait to spread lots of seasonal goodwill.”

The Christmas Village will open to the public on Saturday 9 November in the Plaza and run until Tuesday 31 December. Opening hours are Monday to Wednesday 10am – 8pm, Thursday to Saturday 10am – 9pm and Sunday 10am-7pm.
