Cloudy Bay has extended its invitation to “Come Sail Away ” by announcing plans to support the sailing community in the UK, connecting the excitement of events on the water with shared moments ashore, stories with new and old friends, and most importantly, good food and wine.
Cloudy Bay is the presenting sponsor of the Round the Island Race for 2017 and 2018. The iconic one-day race is one of the largest participation sporting events in the UK – with regular annual entries exceeding 1,500 yachts and upwards of 12,000 sailors.
Cloudy Bay will take a role in the action on the water by entering the race, supported by Cloudy Bay Brand Ambassador, adventurer and storyteller Ben Fogle, who will be part of the Cloudy Bay crew. During and after the race the Cloudy Bay Bar, in the Cowes Yacht Haven, will be a focal point for crew members, friends and spectators alike to celebrate a day of adventure circumnavigating the Isle of Wight.
Cloudy Bay’s sailing schedule will continue later in the summer at Cowes as the named sponsor of the weather reports on Cowes Week TV and Cowes Radio. It will be providing daily crew entertainment in its own bar whilst keeping spectators and sailors up-to-date with regular weather reports and bulletins. Frequent celebration for selected classes competing in the prestigious event will also be hosted across the week which is one of the UK’s longest running and most successful seasonal sporting occasions.
One of the newest and most competitive keelboat racing classes in the UK, the Fast 40+ class, will this year be competing for new honours – the overall year prize ‘Cloudy Bay Bowl’ – as well as class trophies at the Round the Island Race and for Cowes Week.
Commenting for Cloudy Bay, Julie Nollet, Marketing Director of Möet Hennessy UK added: “Cloudy Bay is delighted to bring the promise of sailing away to life not only by sponsoring the Round the Island Race, where the excitement and adventure unfold around the island, but also for all the natural connections of every moment with Cloudy Bay. Whether on shore to see the yachting from a perfect vantage point or afloat with the crew, sharing stories and building friendships, these are the great moments which bring #comesailaway to life.”
