Cockwells Modern & Classic Boatbuilding commences its 21st year of building beautiful bespoke boats by unveiling a third model in its popular Duchy Motor Launch series – a luxury weekender/family cruiser, the Duchy 35 – at this year’s Southampton Boat Show (M200).

Duchy Motor Launches are classically-designed, handcrafted, semi-production vessels that are created in the Duchy of Cornwall by Cockwells’ skilled craftsmen whose design flair, expertise and exacting standards are second-to-none.

Built in low maintenance composites, Duchy Motor Launches can be customised to your exact specifications with a seemingly infinite number of optional extras: from teak decks to custom crockery, china and glassware in tailor-made stowage.

The Duchy 35 has been created specifically for cruising and relaxing in style. With a spacious cockpit and expansive saloon to provide ample space for up to ten day guests or a luxurious weekend berth for two, the design also offers additional flexibility in that you can select either a single or twin cabin layout.

“With the twin cabin layout, the Duchy 35 is a comfortable family cruiser with the galley located in the spacious saloon and two double berths below. But with the single cabin layout, she becomes a luxury day boat or weekender for two,” explains Founder and Managing Director, Dave Cockwell. “Cockwells’ in-house team and Andrew Wolstenholme have designed the Duchy 35 to incorporate every conceivable comfort,” he adds. “From a shower compartment offering generous headroom and a full-width electric sunroof that allows you to take in panoramic sea views from all-round windows to the well-equipped galley, your choice of hardwood joinery, electronics and leather seating, and features to enhance your comfort such as a gyro stabiliser, the pleasure of owning a Duchy 35 that is uniquely yours cannot be underestimated.”

The Duchy 35 can be moored easily and safely with its wide side decks and higher bulwarks. A side door beside the helm provides easy access to the foredeck, ideal for shorthanded mooring. A single touchscreen display offers uncomplicated control of all on-board systems.

“We firmly believe that the Duchy 35 will not only catch the eye of boating enthusiasts in the UK but also those from continental Europe because she is not only exceptionally sea-worthy but also ideal for inland waters,” comments Dave. “We have even created a version specifically for the Scandinavian market by adding an aft windlass for bow-to mooring, a pulpit with gate and the option of a bow passarelle or ladder.”

“If you own a waterside home or enjoy relaxing on the water; if you are after the polished styling and relaxed handling of a custom build without the high-end price tag, there is no better boat on the market,” adds Dave. “When you commission a Duchy 35 from Cockwells, we go through every detail with you to ensure that this classic cruiser for the modern world chimes perfectly with your way of life.”

The price is £325k + VAT for a twin screw standard Duchy 35, but Cockwells can also offer a single screw basic model for £300k + VAT.
