Cruising Association launches video highlighting the dangers of unmarked lobster pots
A petition that was launched last year by the UK-based Cruising Association to make marking of lobster pots safer for everyone on the water, is still live and will remain so until the closing date of 12th March. On the back of this and to further help promotion of the Petition, the CA has now released an informative video, introduced by Tom Cunliffe, that highlights the dangers of entanglement with lobster pots as part of the campaign for better marking of static fishing gear.
In addition to Tom providing the facts surrounding the need for clearer marks, we hear from two experienced yachtsmen describing their very different but equally frightening encounters; Norman Kean spells out his experience whilst researching updates for Irish pilot books and Steve Williams had a terrifying close call whilst racing off Anglesey.
