Cundall wins CRASH Sailing Cup
An intrepid crew of competitive Cundall sailors braved choppy waters in the Solent and became the CRASH Sailing Cup champions for 2017.
Cundall beat mixed crews from construction industry titans including Taylor Wimpey, ACO, Bauder, 8Build and defending 2016 Champions RedSkyIT to win the coveted title.
The prestigious sailing cup event began the evening before with a welcoming pizza party where crews could network and indulge in competitive banter ahead of the sailing. The evening included a charity auction for CRASH with Lots donated by Sunsail, Roux at Parliament Square, Imtech, AECOM, Arcadis and NMBS/Makita.
The next day, following a robust breakfast and safety briefing, the 12 crews set out with their professional Sunsail skippers. The 40ft First Match yachts’ branded with the company logos made an impressive sight as they set off pictured against Portsmouth’s historic coastline.
Following lunch, which was served on board, the excitement of the match racing began and after three races Cundall was named victors of the waves. Taylor Wimpey’s Central South Division and last year’s champions RedSkyIT claimed second and third place respectively.

The crew from Cundall, David Morley Architects, Quartz Project Services and WilkinsonEyre had a great day, ably led by skipper, Chris Brooks.
“This was a brilliant, well organised event and as always it is important to be supporting CRASH, knowing that we are assisting such a good cause. We will be back next year to defend our title and challenge all budding sailors out there to get involved, have fun and do your bit to support homeless and hospice charities.”
The event raised £8,500 to support CRASH charity’s work to help homelessness and hospice charities with their buildings.
