Die Cast model collection of legendary ocean liners
Atlas Editions has launched a new Die Cast model collection of Legendary Ocean Liners.
The Legendary Ocean Liners collection includes authentic die-cast models at a 1:1250 scale of RMS Titanic, RMS Queen Mary, Normandie, RMS Lusitania, RMS Queen Elizabeth, SS United States and La France. The collection launches with the most famous of all ocean liners – RMS Titanic.
The Titanic famously sank on her maiden voyage when she struck an iceberg on 14 April 1912, resulting in the loss of over 1,500 lives. The many great ships that followed Titanic became legends too, heralding the golden age of the ocean liner. These were ships that changed the world, bringing the glamorous skyline of New York within reach of thousands of travellers, rich and poor alike. With national pride at stake, there was intense rivalry between the great powers – Great Britain, United States, France and Germany set about building some of the finest vessels to ever sail the seas.
Guy Stainthorpe, Managing Director, Atlas Editions, said: “We decided to launch the Legendary Ocean Liners collection after we discovered how difficult it was for members of the public to buy models of these prestigious state-of-the-art ships that, in their day, were the largest man-made objects that could move.”
Atlas Editions has created authentic models of the liners by teaming up with Gordon Williamson, a maritime historian to ensure the models are as authentic as possible, true to the original designs using original blueprints of the ships and complex CGI modelling.
The creation of the Great Ocean Liners collection has taken almost two years to make due to the lengthy process of ensuring the models are as authentic as possible. Original plans and blueprints of the liners are put into CAD (computer aided design) to create precise drawings and illustrations of each liner. Images and photos of each ship are also used to ensure the models are as true to the original ships as can be.
The Atlas Editions Titanic model comes with a 6-page colour booklet and a certificate of authenticity which includes a fact file of the liner. It also comes in a specially-designed collector’s box and is mounted on a presentation plinth. It sells for £1.99 with FREE postage and packaging exclusively from http://bit.ly/atlastitanic. The Titanic model is the first of the collection with one Die Cast metal Legendary Ocean Liners model available per month.
