The Cummins 6BTA5.9 M3 370hp diesel engine has ~1441 hours. The engine is equipped with:

*Aquadrive thrust bearing to reduce engine noise and vibration.
*Twindisc MG 5050A transmission (2.5:1)
*Dual Racor fuel filters

While top speed and cruising speed are noted above, an economical cruising speed is 8.5 knots at 1800 RPM / 4.5 gallons per hour.

A bow and stern thruster for close-quarters handling.

Shore power input is 120V. A 10KV isolation transformer is installed. The engine start bank is charged with a Mastervolt ProNautic24-20P charger and the service bank is charged with a MasterVolt Mass 24/50 charger. The inverter is a Mastervolt Mass Sine 24/2500. Two solar panels installed on the cockpit Bimini (estimated to be 250 watts) are wired to a Xantrex 35amp charge controller.

The service bank consists of (4) 8D sealed gel batteries (1100AH) installed under built-in seating in the cockpit. Additional batteries include an engine starting bank consisting of (2) AGMs and a generator start battery.

An automatic engine room fire suppression system is installed in the engine room and in the lazarette.

This Elling E3 has been owned by the current owners since 2014. The original hour meter failed shortly after the current owners purchased the vessel, and the engine hours are calculated by adding the hours on the original meter, hours recorded in the ship's logbook, and a more recently installed and operational hour meter.

The Elling E3 has a noticeably high freeboard and is boarded by stepping aboard the raised swim platform and ascending a set of teak stairs to the elevated cockpit / aft deck. Alternatively, a ladder on the side of the hull provides access directly to the foredeck.

The aft deck is configured for entertaining, relaxing, and for the storage of deck gear which can be secured or mounted to the rails. The built in seating seats several people, and free-standing deck chairs can be used to accommodate more. The cockpit table is well-sized for entertaining. The entire cockpit is covered by a robustly-constructed Bimini with stainless steel frame which shelters the cockpit, and supports two rigid solar panels.

The exterior decks are guarded by stout and rigid stainless steel railings. Walk around decks provide access to the foredeck. The foredeck is amply sized for sun-bathing and built-in forward facing seating for lounging, or can be used to store gear such as kayaks, paddle boards or the tender.

The pilothouse is configured with an L-shaped settee centered around a table to port. A helm station is located to starboard. The space is bright due to large double-pane windows on all sides.

A set of stairs leads to the lower salon where a settee and saloon table lies to starboard. I think 4-6 people could sit at the table to share a meal.

Opposite the settee are cabinets for storage including a cabinet containing a 21" Panasonic TV. An Alpine stereo is installed in the cabinet above the TV.

A walkthrough galley lies just aft of the salon. The galley offers a good amount of storage and countertops. Appliances include a Dickinson Mediterranean 3-burner propane cooktop and oven, a microwave oven, a fridge / freezer concealed behind cabinet doors, a stainless steel sink. Wine cellars, which could also just double as additional storage are located under the galley sole. A water filtration system (filter replaced 2025) is installed under the 1.5 basin galley sink.

The master cabin is an aft cabin that is situated just aft of the galley. At the center of this cabin is a queen-sized berth which can be accessed from both sides. Horizontal surfaces lie to either side at the head of the berth, which serve as nightstands. The stateroom has storage in the form or drawers and cabinets with shelving.

The forward cabin is laid out with a double-berth to port and built in seating to starboard. Storage is good, and includes a full-height hanging locker / closet.

A third cabin is located just aft of the salon. This cabin can be easily configured as an office with a large desk / work surface or as single berth stateroom. Drawers beneath the desk / berth are handy for storing tools or spares.

A head compartment is located just off the salon and next to the forward cabin. This head compartment also contains an electric Tecma toilet, washbasin, and a fully enclosed shower.

A Wallas Nautic 40D diesel heater provides cabin heating. In addition, a heat exchanger system on the main engine system provides cabin heat and hot water for domestic use while underway. A CLD Marine air-conditioning unit is also installed, but is not operational.
