Round the Island Race: 29th June
A completely free event for spectators, the annual Round the Island Race is organised by the Island Sailing Club and is a one-day yacht race attracting over 1,400 boats and around 15,000 sailors. Observers can watch sailors skim past the iconic rocky structure known as The Needles, round St Catherine’s Point, Bembridge Ledge and back into the Solent. Rhythm Tree Festival: 12th – 14th July
Known as the Isle of Wight’s most fun-filled and family friendly festival, Rhythm Tree returns to Calbourne for the 9th consecutive year. Island Heritage Train Days at the Isle of Wight Steam Railway
On 9th June and 14th July, visitors to the Island Heritage Train Days can enjoy a journey back to the past and discover how the railways provided daily transport for workers, school children and livestock and farm produce. Visitors may also be taken back to the 1950s and 1960s to see an early British Railways’ era ballast train operating. Adult tickets start from £13.00 and child tickets start from £6.00 per person.
