First Ever Community Day this Sunday at the Southampton Boat Show
Southampton International Boat Show is in full swing with an incredible week of sunshine and festivities with visitors taking to the water and enjoying the array of attractions new for 2021.
Still to come this weekend is the first ever Community Day, providing people from the surrounding area with the chance to enjoy the festivities of Britain’s largest boating and watersports festival.
As part of Community Day, local residents within the SO14 to SO19 postcodes benefit from a special offer, paying just £14 per adult ticket. This includes free entry for two children under 15 per adult ticket and Senior Citizens (adults aged 66+) also go free.
Offering the perfect day out for the entire family, the show features fun activities in, on and around the water including a Tall Ship to explore, breath-taking stunts on the water, live music, and an array of delicious street food stands.
Children from St John’s Primary School have been invited to the show and join in the community treasure hunt with the exciting opportunity to explore and to discover their inner Captain Hook on the Morgenster, a 100-year-old Tall Ship that looks like a pirate ship!
With a focus on accessibility, the 52nd Boat Show offers visitors of all ages the opportunity to get on the water and have a go, and whether new to watersports or a seasoned sailor, there are many opportunities included in the ticket price.
Visit the Get Afloat Zone where you can try dinghy sailing, paddle boarding and kayaking for free with experts from Rockley Watersports on hand to help. Or, how about Try-a-Boat where you can glide through the water in a high-speed RIB or float across the Solent under sail. Visitors can check out the On the Water Stage for adrenaline-packed shows featuring awe-inspiring flyboarder, flite boarder and jet ski stunt performances.
On Sunday’s Community Day, the show is also hosting The Great Southampton Boat Race, giving local residents the chance to build a boat out of cardboard and to paddle the craft to victory and top the podium. Entry is included within the price of a ticket on Community Day and more information can be found here.
