Haven Knox-Johnston’s new colours are even greener than before
Haven Knox-Johnston is making a pledge to reduce its environmental impact and improve sustainability across all business activities.
All areas of the business are under scrutiny to see where implementable, lasting changes can be made to chart a better course. The first mark to round is going paper free for policy documents on 1 July.
Paul Knox-Johnston, Sales & Marketing Manager, said, “It is clear that many organisations realise their impact on the environment and the subsequent need to improve their sustainability and carbon footprint. Normally, we do not like to follow the crowd, but in this case, it is absolutely the RIGHT thing to do.”
Alarmingly Antarctica and Greenland are losing ice six times faster than in the 1990s (source IMBIE) and this is of particular concern to the Haven K-J crew. As you might have guessed, they love Penguins with their much-loved Penguin mascot a part of their crew since the early 90s! It is no surprise, but penguins are particularly sensitive to climate change as any rise in sea temperature will in turn affect their supply of food and lifestyle. “Hangry” penguins are bad news for everybody!
Haven K-J posts out more than 250,000 pages of documents each year together with the associated environmental costs of paper manufacture, printing and postage to deliver them. They know that for some of their customers, receiving a printed copy of their insurance documents is important to them, but suspect that the vast majority of documents sent in the post probably end up in a dark drawer somewhere, only seeing the light of day years later during a spring clean when they get promptly thrown in the bin!
So, all insurance documents will be issued to policy holders by email, unless someone specifically asks for a printed document.
Haven K-J will also donate £1 for every client who agrees to go paper free and donate this to the WWF adoption scheme (up to a maximum of £1,000). If you want to find out more, or even adopt your own penguin, take a look here: https://support.wwf.org.uk/adopt-a-penguin
This is just the beginning. Where printed literature is necessary, they will be only use non-laminated, recycled paper – so that everything can be re-recycled. They have also ditched plastic promo goodies – in favour of longer lasting, sustainable and practical items which can also be recycled.
If you have any suggestions about how Haven K-J can “Go Greener”, let them know! The crew are always on hand to listen, or even help with your boat insurance needs! Give them a call (01732 223 650) or drop them an email (hello@havenkj.com).
