Land Rover BAR and renewables investment company Low Carbon have announced the extension of their partnership, with Low Carbon to remain the team’s renewable energy partner for the 36th America’s Cup campaign.

Through the partnership, Low Carbon will support the British Challenger Land Rover BAR’s commitment to leading the way in sustainability in sport and the marine industry through the installation of additional solar paneling at its base in Portsmouth and the installation of Electric Vehicle charging points.

Low Carbon has been the official renewable energy partner of Land Rover BAR since 2015. Low Carbon has previously supported the team’s renewable energy requirements with a 114.89kW solar installation at the base and a 67.2kW solar installation at the local Northern Parade School, also providing educational resources on the importance of renewable energy and tackling climate change.

Low Carbon additionally co-funded the installation of the largest ground-mounted solar project in Bermuda for the country’s national museum in 2017, helping to offset Land Rover BAR’s carbon footprint while training and competing in the 35th America’s Cup.

The combined solar installations are helping to save more than 130 tonnes of CO2 each year and, with the increased solar capacity and new EV chargers installed under the extended partnership, the team will be able to further reduce its carbon footprint and produce more clean energy, supporting its commitment to sustainability.
