Marine technology company savvy navvy has been recognised for its international growth by the UK marine sector at the British Marine Trades Association Awards ceremony.

The innovative technology company, often referred to as ‘Google Maps for boats’, won the ‘British Marine David Coleman Award’ for its global growth. Founder of savvy navvy, Jelte Liebrand, picked up the award in front of hundreds of leading industry peers from the UK leisure marine association British Marine at the Grand in Southampton.

The win comes the same week as savvy navvy reached 1.8 million app downloads, seeing huge user growth in markets including the UK, USA, Australia and the Mediterranean.

“We’re thrilled to be acknowledged by British Marine for our continuous global expansion of both our users and our partnerships. It comes at a great time, with savvy navvy continuing to scale up dramatically. We are actively shaping the marine industry for the better and working alongside my 15-strong team we are challenging the bigger navigation apps in the global market,” says Jelte Liebrand, Founder and CEO of savvy navvy.

The David Coleman Excellence in Exporting 2024 award is in memory of the late husband of Suzanne Blaustone, CEO of Barton Marine, who sponsored and handed the award to Jelte Liebrand at the ceremony.

“The David Coleman Export in Business Award, sponsored by Barton Marine, is a prestigious accolade as it recognises a significant export performance in the last 12 months. The implementation of the savvy navvy US sales network was deemed to be notable by the MTA Committee.  This follows winning the Business of the Year Award in 2023, so well done to all the team at savvy navvy and a very rare time when consecutive awards are made to one company,” says Paul Martin, Chair of the British Marine Trades Association.

For several decades, the BMTA awards have recognised businesses and individuals across all sectors of the UK marine industry. savvy navvy is one of the only companies to have been given the British Marine Trade Association Award two years in a row – winning British Marine Business of the Year in 2023.

Offering clutter-free charts and smart routing – the savvy navvy app solves vital navigation issues for boaters, kayakers, paddleboarders and jet-skiers.
