Winter works at Neyland Yacht Haven supported by the local community
This winter, Neyland Yacht Haven undertook essential maintenance work by repiling 60 pontoon piles in their Upper Basin.
A marina survey, undertaken last autumn, identified that the pontoon piles had reached the end of their natural life span and required replacing. Working with Falmouth Divers and Williams Shipping, old piles were removed and new 25m piles were installed over an eight week period at the start of 2017.
A wide range of local companies aided the work by offering staff, services and support to the marina and affected berth holders. Dale Sailing, East Llanion boatyard and Milford Marina offered winter storage to boat owners while a range of local marine companies supported the work including Granger Tubolt Ltd and Cleddau Marine. Beggars Reach B&B also provided accommodation for the 7 staff who resided in the area during the project.
The project was successfully finished on time in the first week of March allowing berth holders to return to the Upper Basin well in advance of the new sailing season.
Neyland Yacht Haven extend their warmest thanks to everyone involved with the project, to the local community for their rallying support and, most importantly, to our berth holders for their assistance and cooperation. All the team at the marina are now looking forward to swapping their hard hats and high-vis jackets, for sun caps and lifejackets as the sailing season fast approaches.
