New Guard Room café opens its doors at Turnchapel Wharf’s marine business centre

A new café has opened its doors at Turnchapel Wharf, a waterfront marine business centre, in Plymouth.
The Guard Room is being run by the highly regarded Emily Bohnet following the success of her Lazy Cow café in Modbury and The Mess Room at Yachthaven Quay.
Commenting on the launch, founder and owner of the Lazy Cow, Emily Bohnet says: “We are thrilled to have taken on The Guard Room at Turnchapel Wharf. It’s such a prime position on the water and next to the South West Coast Path. We have designed the café to have a contemporary nautical theme, reflecting its boatbuilding and naval past.”
Emily continues: “We will be taking a very similar approach for the menu at The Guard Room as at the Lazy Cow and The Mess Room. Wherever possible we buy the finest local produce and cook as much as possible on site. We work with producers, such as Luscombe Drinks, Aune Valley Meat and The Bake House Salcombe who share a similar philosophy to us.”
Lazy Cow is a member of Food & Drink Devon, which represents the very best of the county’s food and drink retailers, hospitality businesses and producers.
The Lazy Cow in Modbury and The Mess Room at Yacht Haven Quay have built up a reputation of being stylish go to places to relax and enjoy good coffee and affordable, delicious food. They are always buzzing, with locals, walkers, boat owners and those from further afield coming in first thing for a Lazy Cow or Will’s big breakfast. The popular lunch menus range from freshly made soup, paninis and sandwiches, to chickpea, beetroot & feta salad and various specials of the day.
