Ocean Safety is once again named an Official Supplier to the Clipper 2017-18 Round the World Yacht Race as the company signs a third contract.

Ocean Safety will supply another comprehensive range of safety equipment on each of the 12 70ft (23m) yachts competing in the 40,000 nautical mile adventure.

Clipper Race founder Sir Robin Knox-Johnston said: “There’s one thing that is paramount in ocean racing: safety, safety, safety. Ensuring our fleet and crew are equipped and prepared is fundamental to the Clipper Race, which is why I’m so pleased that our longstanding partnership with Ocean Safety is continuing.”  He adds “With each race edition, we strive to learn and develop, to continue to offer the highest safety standards to our crew.  These include the choice to integrate AIS into all crew lifejackets.”

Indeed, Ocean Safety is leaving nothing to chance to protect the amateur sailors that will crew each boat – the company is supplying each crew member with a Kru lifejacket fitted with an Ocean Signal RescueMe MOB1. Ocean Safety is also fitting each boat with its latest Ocean SOLAS Compact liferaft, a space saving and advanced, yet easy to launch, raft which will be introduced to the skippers as part of a tailored training package.

The yachts already carry a full inventory of Ocean Safety equipment which will be carefully checked and serviced.  The new equipment to be supplied will include flares, tether lines, traditional horseshoes, and danbuoys for recovering crew from the water.

“We are delighted to continue the close partnership that we have with the Clipper Race Team,” comments Ocean Safety’s Alistair Hackett.  “Ocean Safety has been working with the Clipper Race for many years, developing and evolving best in class products to help ensure the safety of crews at sea. This partnership will enable us to continue to provide expert advice and comprehensive safety packages to the crew, who we very much look forward to supporting throughout the Clipper 2017-18 Race.”

Ocean Safety works closely with the Clipper Race to ensure that the safety regulations are accurately met and the company will also supply a service package for stop over checks and replacements.
